How to do it:

First, start with a grounding exercise. I like to mimic a tree. Trees are simultaneously connected to both earth and sky. I start by centering my energy in my solar plexus. That’s the energy spot in your belly. From that belly point, push your energy into the ground and link. When you link, you feel connected to the ground. If you don’t feel it at first, continue to push under you feel the support under your feet. Once secure, pull your energy back up, to your solar plexus. From there continue upwards through your heart, throat, forehead and up above your head. Above your head is the crown chakra. Secure a link there. Feel the connection between this crown chakra point to your feet. Now you are grounded in both the spiritual energy and earth energy.

Next step, once grounded, take in a breath and raise your arms. Keep your arms extended and breathe out. Breathe in and out. As you take this breath, imagine the top of your head opening. With this action, you allow your crown chakra to open. Continue breathing and opening. Breathing and opening. Notice how the light can come in through this opening. The light is there to pull the negative thoughts and emotions you are ready to release. Release. Notice how easy these thoughts and emotions flow into the rays. Relax and release. Relax and release. As you do this, extend your arms upwards. This action in the physical form parallels the release in the spiritual form. As you are releasing, you allow more light source energy in.  Continue to release. Continue to allow. As you do this, your energy is rising. You are rising. As you continue to do this exercise, you raise your vibrations and connect to your higher self.

What is Universal Source Energy? It is as it sounds - the source of unending energy. However you want to understand it – as Universal or God source energy – is up to you. We are never severed from our connection to Source, it just feels like that sometimes. When you understand this connection, you naturally know how to regenerate your energy. That means that when you feel energy depleted you can use your connection to pull in energy towards you and not have to rely on sources outside yourself. Most people, and me at times even though I know better, will seek sources outside of themselves to feed themselves energetically.  However, that is not necessary when we understand that we are connected to Universal Source Energy.

How the exercise goes:

Imagine what Universal Source Energy looks like to you. The image itself could look like the sun. Once you have this image in mind, move onto the next step. Next, imagine a cord coming from you and attaching itself to this Universal Source Energy. Where the cord is placed from you universal source is up to you. There is not right and wrong, just personal choice. Ask your higher self* (see note below) to attach this cord and that this cord remains there for the course of your lifetime. Nothing can sever this cord. You are connected. 

Take a moment to check in with yourself about how you feel. Do you feel a new surge of energy? This could feel like a sensation or tingling in your hands, head or feet. Or you could suddenly feel more energy coming inside of you. Don’t worry if you don’t feel these things. I’m passing along experiences people have had once I've given them this instruction. 

Now that you connected, remember the connection and that you do not have to go outside yourself to replenish. What do I mean by “go outside yourself”? We have many habits, for example, where we “think” that we need to get energy from people to feed ourselves. Remember: thoughts, emotions, etc. are all forms of energy. When we feel “down” this feeling really at its heart is energy depletion. So to feel better, we have formed habits to replenish our energy. We chat on the phone with a friend, or seek attention in the workplace.  This may work temporarily to make ourselves feel better but does this ever work in the long term? Consider using Universal Energy Source to replenish. Then, when you call a friend you can really be present and not with an underlying need to have this other person make you feel better; or when you step up to contribute at work, it'll be to contribute to the whole of the organization rather than seeking energy to replenish just yourself. 

Next time you feel like you need a surge of energy, ask your higher self to send you a dose from Universal Energy Source. There’s plenty there. Never assume you cannot receive more. The illusion of scarcity is an illusion. And once you form new habits, where you now know where there is an unending source of energy, you’ll naturally be more in the flow. Make sense? I hope so. In the workshop, I touched briefly on shielding. Shielding is an important technique for someone who is sensitive. Sensitive people (including empathic people) have a lighter energy field and are more susceptible to picking up energy from others. You can, however, strengthen your energy field by shielding.
